Gilberto Gomez is a litigation attorney with experience in a wide range of civil disputes, including personal injury, construction defect, real estate, and appellate matters. His practice experience includes contested matters in New Mexico state and federal proceedings, as well as matters involving complex factual disputes, client counseling, settlement negotiations, and courtroom advocacy.

Before joining Hartline Barger, Gilberto represented individuals and businesses in civil litigation and related disputes throughout New Mexico. His prior work gave him experience managing active litigation matters from initial case evaluation through contested hearings, settlement discussions, trial preparation, post-hearing briefing, and appeal. Gilberto approaches litigation with a focus on careful preparation, practical strategy, and clear communication with clients.

Gilberto’s experience also includes serving as a judicial intern for the Texas Eighth Court of Appeals in El Paso, where he researched appellate issues, reviewed records and briefs, and drafted judicial work product under appellate-court supervision.

A native El Pasoan and first-generation attorney, Gilberto earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama School of Law, where he served as president of the Latin American Law Student Association. He earned dual undergraduate degrees in Criminal Justice and Political Science from the University of Texas at El Paso. He is fluent in Spanish and licensed to practice in Texas, New Mexico, and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico.
